Things kicked off with a busy day on Wednesday 22nd July. We officially welcomed the beach petanque to our annual syllabus this year. The event was held at the beach in front of ‘Moore Field’ and the rain just about stayed off for the duration! After a hotly fought competition, the father-son duo of Campbell and Grant Miller came out as the winners! Special thanks go to the Miller family for organising the event.
Later that evening was the bingo at An Cridhe. A great time was had by all and there were a number of lucky winners! Special thanks go to our Bingo Master, Colin MacKinnon! The bingo was followed by the fishing dance with Trail West… although due to a particularly poor summer, the fishing competition wasn’t held until late August!
On Saturday 25th we saw the return of the beach football at Wee Torastan Stadium. With a staggering 13 teams entered on the day we had over 65 players taking part. Teams were made up of locals, Coll Association members and holiday makers and the sun shone for what felt like the only day in July! Our thanks go to our ever reliable referee, David Moore and to John-Allan MacRae for providing the backing music! The runners up were Unreal Madrid. Congratulations to our winners – The Slow Coaches.
The summer quiz night took place on Wednesday 29th July at An Cridhe. There was another fantastic turn out for what proved to be a challenging mental evening! Margaret and David Moore yet again did an incredible job organising the quiz. The winning team was ‘Last Place’. Don’t worry – we were confused too!
